Unnecessary Things

To let the fickle claim home
is to let the play become real life.
The jostle of wings
and the smartest of feathers
Are not incurred into the famous hat for a penny
but are rightfully placed within the skin that it is so plucked from
Flocks of purple and yellow and blue
and green and pink and white
Leaving naked birds and flowering
hats full of rainbows that aren’t created by rain.
Unnecessary yearnings for things that don’t
Aren’t ever
Shan’t never
Ruin the bad and hearten the worse.
